Art & Architecture Tour

Hamburg’s prosperous years from 1890–1910 brought with it an abundance of fine architecture. Examples include the stunning white patrician residences dotting the Alster and Elbe and the historic “Speicherstadt,” a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a complex of more than 150 year old warehouses built above a network of canals reminiscent of Amsterdam. More recently, Hamburg has acquired many futuristic pieces of architecture with the Hafen City project which has attracted architects of the caliber of Herzog & de Meuron, David Chipperfield, Rem Koolhaas, Hadi Teherani and many others.

The permanent collection of the Hamburger Kunsthalle reflects 700 years of art and ranks among the most substantial public art collections in Germany. The Kunsthalle also offers its audience a richly layered tour through European art history from the Middle Ages through to the present and has a contemporary wing exhibiting art by the likes of contemporary superstars such as Andreas Gursky. Photography is hosted in the nearby Deichtorhallen, housed in a pair of converted hangar-like market halls.

We will present a dedicated, private guided art tour package very soon.
